§ About
About
NexGuard is a hash-based malware scanner for macOS, operated by Reach X, LLC.
What we do
NexGuard is built on real cryptographic science, not guesswork. It checks the files on your machine against NexGuard Labs' maintained database of known malware and flags real matches — the same mathematical fingerprinting method security researchers rely on to identify malicious files with certainty.
The scanner itself is avtool, released under the MIT
license. The source is public at
github.com/reach-x/nexguard.
You do not have to take our word for what the software does; you can read
it, build it, or watch its network traffic while it runs.
What we sell
The command-line scanner is free and always will be. A paid subscription at $10 per month adds a more frequently updated threat feed, a dashboard covering every machine you run NexGuard on, and support from a person. That subscription is our only revenue from this product.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or share the personal information of NexGuard users. We are not a lead generation service, we do not match you with third parties, and we do not pass your details to anyone. The software uploads no files, no filenames, and no information about the contents of your machine. Its only outbound request is a plain download of the public hash list.
